Basic Rules [IMPORTANT]

-Important Rules-
(These must be abided by otherwise you will be issued with a warning)
Cursing
Although alot of you are role-playing older characters, please keep the cursing to a minimum. A few here and there will be tolerated, but over use will not! Please use good judgment when posting!

Third Person Format
All posts must be in third person format. Nothing drives me crazier then when people post in first person!

Example:

First Person (Do not do): I walked over to the fireplace and took out the letter. Sighing I tossed it into the roaring fire.

Third Person (Proper way to post): Jennifer walked over to the huge fireplace just at the other end of the huge common room. With the letter from her brother in hand, she tossed it into the roaring fire.

Post Length
All posts MUST be at least a paragraph long and honestly anyone with 4 braincells can string at least 6 sentences. 6 sentences (not lines) can make a small a paragraph. Anyone one liner and you shall recieve a warning. Posting one liners is not RP its more like talking so I won't tolerate it anymore.

Powerplay/Godmoding
No power playing, or Godmoding. What this means is you can't control other people's characters.
Godmoding, an explaination:
1. You cast any spell at a person and make it automatically hit.
2. Your character isn't so great that he dodges everything, or the spells don't effect him.

The reason for these two rules is simple. Say your character is in a duel and I cast a killing curse on you. Haha, you're dead. That's godmoding. Or if I fire one spell at you, and they hit you, but nothing happens to you for some unknown reason. Every character should have a chance to respond to every spell cast at them. Granted you shouldn't be able to dodge everything so just use your own judgement.
If you decide to have a spell hit you please let it take the right effects. I’ve seen people take the Cruciatus Curse and just walk away like they got sprayed with a water hose. In the books it was described as the most agonizing pain. No one just shook it off and said, " Is that the best you got?"

Mary-Sure Characters
No, and I mean NO Mary Sue characters! Everyone on earth has some flaws. Not everyone can have acculate grades or be perfect in transforming, occulemns and legimens. It won't be tolerated if your found your name will be changed to Mary-Sue and that can count as your warning. Not sure what a 'Mary Sue' is? Click here to see what one is

Names
Your character MUST have a first and last name. And not just on the Sorting App or in your profile, in your display name. And if you don't have a clue how to change it, just PM me, (McGonagall). Also you CANNOT have the same name as a celebrity, in reality a celebrity would not go to Hogwarts

Characters Looks
We are going to ask you that you have an avatar (or signature, but don't forget to check out the signature rules) with your characters picture on it. This just makes it easier when knowing what your character looks like. If you are unsure or don’t know how to make one please feel free to contact me, (McGonagall) I'd are more then willing to help out

No relations
No characters related to canon characters that are original. What we mean by this is no lost brother or cousin of Harry Potter and such. Especially no one related to the Riddle's or the Black's, without permission from the main admin

Specials?
When applying for original character these following things will not be excepted (unless otherwise asked and approved by myself).
Veela's, Metamorphmagus’, Animagus’, Elf, Werewolf, Vampire or any other rare qualities.

*Note, No students will ever be approved as a Werewolf unless asked first and have given a very good, well thought out plot for it. Application question: Favourite Colour?
Veela's, Metamorphi, Animagi, Elves, Werewolves, Vampire's may be accepted, (unless your an adult, or have a good plot and permission) it's not sensible they are all very rare creatures and Hogwarts won't have about 50 of them and if there is any uproar about this just leave I don't have the time to have the same discussion over and over again.

Spellings
Please, please run your post through a spell check. A few mis-spelling here are there is okay, no one is perfect, but when your post is so riddle with mis-typing and spelling errors it make it impossible to read will not be tolerated!

Signature Limitations
I want the boards to look neat and tidy and the only way to achieve this is by smaller signatures because its getting quite out of hand so you are only allowed ONE image in your signature, otherwise it'll get taken out.

Character Limits
You may have upto three characters. However, you can't have multiple characters that will interact a lot.

No Stealing
Don't Steal My Work! If you want an idea or a code that I have used on my site or if you want to use some of these rules for your site PM me about it, I won't mind one bit as long as you asked. I worked very hard on this site and we don't want it all to go to you without any credit!

No Double Posting
NO and we mean NO double Posting. It looks unprofessional, people don't like to watch you have a conversation with yourself, Besides, we have MODIFY buttons, where you can correct your errors. If I see anyone making a double post they will be put on a warning

Advertising
No advertising your sites with direct links anywhere on the site, the only place you can is in your profile and on your name in the c-box. And please don't advertise over PM it annoys people including me and its pointless

Fun
